Dear Parents and Dancers,

This note has some reminders and some dates you will want to mark on your calendar. Please be sure to read this note and ask your child if they have received any notes each week. If you miss a lesson, please call to find out if you missed a note as well.
Group Practices are beginning now. You will receive a note in class if you have one. Please remember that group rehearsals are very important! We will work on dances that we do not have enough time for in regular classes. There is no charge for these extra practices. If you miss class, please call to find out when your practice will be.
Tickets for the 17th annual Dance By Deborah Recital will be on sale SATURDAY, MAY 9 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm and SUNDAY, MAY 10, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Tickets cost $5.00 and are known to sell very quickly. People have been know to line up many hours in advance (sometimes even the night before.) They are sold at the studio. A list of which night(s) each student dances will be posted Monday, May 4th. The recitals are large productions that are a major investment of time and hard work for the students. This is a very costly event for us to produce on the professional level of which you have grown accustomed. Please encourage family and friends to attend; your child will enjoy having a great audience!
Pictures will be taken FRIDAY, MAY 15, SATURDAY, MAY 16, AND SUNDAY, MAY 17. You will need to sign up for an appointment. Watch for a note with more information in early May. A sign up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board in the lobby. We will have a make-up picture day only if costumes do not arrive on time. This would take place during dress rehearsal week. Pictures taken May 15 – 17 will be available for purchase at dress rehearsals.
Tights must be worn by females with every costume. One pair has been included with their costume. You may order additional tights at the studio on ticket day.
Youth sizes $7.00, adult sizes $10.00, Body tights are available for older students for $15.00 if desired.
Recital T-shirts will be available for order on ticket day as well. These shirts are a nice memento for students and parents. They will have the recital theme on the front and every student’s name on the back. They must be paid for at the time of ordering. You can order them on ticket day (or before) only! The price of the shirt is $15.00 ($18.00 for XXL.)
Registration for summer classes will be Saturday, May 16, 12:00 – 2:00 pm and Sunday, May 17, 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Classes on jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, tumbling, technique, strength and flexibility will be available. Mommy & Me class will be available for 18 months to 3 year-olds. Look for classes with guest teachers! The summer session is a great way to try new styles of dance or improve your current discipline.
Remember, the Dance By Deborah recital is June 5, 6, (at 7:00 pm) & June 8, (at 2:00 pm) at Crawfordsville High School. The Sunday recital is a matinee. The dress rehearsals will be June 1, 2, & 3 at 5:45 pm, also at CHS. Yes, dress rehearsals are in costume with make-up and hair done.
We will be doing summer performances again a few of the dates include: Strawberry Festival, Saturday, June 13, 10:00 am at the main stage on the Lane Place Grounds. Arrive no later than 9:30 so you don’t miss your routine. July 4, at Milligan Park, on the Main stage on Baldwin Field at 4:00 pm.
Dear D.B.D. Students and Parents,
The recital is quickly approaching and there are a few details you need to be aware of. Also, please make an effort to read posted signs at the studio, on windows, doors, and bulletin boards.
Dress Rehearsals for the recital will be at CHS as follows:
Monday, June 1, 5:45 pm for Friday, June 5th recital
Tuesday, June 2, 5:45 pm for Saturday, June 6th recital
Wednesday, June 3, 5:45 pm for Sunday, June 7th recital
If you are in all three recitals, you must be at all three dress rehearsals!!! Dress rehearsals are closed rehearsals. You must wear your costumes and make-up, with hair done, to dress rehearsal!!! (That is after all why we call it a dress rehearsal… plus we have people taking pictures that we would like to be able to use.) We will assign parents to help with each class, during rehearsal, and everyone else is asked to come back to pick up their children later. If your child is 4 years old or younger, you may stay with them.
Friday & Saturday’s recitals at 7:00 pm, and dancers must be there, dressed and ready to go at 6:30 pm. Sunday’s recital is at 2:00 pm, and dancers must be there, dressed and ready to perform at 1:30 pm.
Dress rehearsals and recitals can be long. During that time, students may require a meal or snack. Because we all want the students to look their best in their new costumes, D.B.D. requests that they only eat non-messy foods. Please do not send anything chocolate, cheesy (like Doritos or flavored chips,) or anything including sauces or condiments. Water is the only drink allowed. There will be snacks available for purchase during rehearsals and recital. All snacks for sale during dress rehearsals are “D.B.D. Costume Police” approved!
If you did NOT have pictures taken, the photographer will be at the studio again on Thursday, June 4. Please sign up for an appointment on the bulletin board in the lobby. We would love to have a picture of each student to add to our display! (Our photographer is a dance-only photographer and gives us a picture for our studio.)
If you DID have pictures taken, you may view and / or purchase them, Monday, June 1, Tuesday, June 2, and Wednesday, June 3, at Crawfordsville High School during the dress rehearsals. The photographer will be located in the back hall, behind the auditorium, from 5:30 pm until the end of dress rehearsal.
If you still need tickets for the recital, please sign up for the amount you need and for which night, on the bulletin board in the lobby. You must pay when you order them in order for the tickets to be pulled. If you do not pay when you order, your tickets are not reserved. Tickets are $5.00 each. You may pick them up at the ticket booth on recital night.
